xTool O1 WonderPress & WonderPress – Gold Foiling Tutorial
*** Gold Foil on METAL with the xTool O1 Omni + WonderPress — No Laminator! ✨ ***
In this tutorial, I’m creating an Art Deco-inspired metal sign with printed color and holographic gold foil accents using the xTool O1 Omni UV-DT Printer and xTool WonderPress.
The fun part? I’m applying the foil with the WonderPress instead of a laminator. (And I’m using inexpensive foil I found on Amazon while I wait for the xTool O1 foil to arrive. 😉)
I’ll show how I prepare the design so foil is applied only to selected areas, print the artwork with the O1 Omni, and then use heat and pressure from the WonderPress to transfer the metallic foil onto the finished metal sign.
The result is a combination of rich UV-printed color and holographic gold details that really sparkle as the light hits them.

* Creating targeted areas for the foil
* Adding gold foil over selected details
* Using the xTool WonderPress for foil application
* Getting a clean metallic finish without a laminator

This is the cart I use for my O1 Omni. The height is adjustable and it has wheels so I can move the printer away from the wall when using the large bed (Note – the laminator will NOT fit on this cart together with the printer.) :

As you know that you did not have to use white ink because the sublimated background was white however once you put down the first layer of black did the gold border require white ink first?
